Amazon to hold Prime Day sales on July 16 and 17

Amazon said on Tuesday that its annual Prime Day sales event will be held on July 16 and 17. The sales will kick off at 12.01 a.m. Pacific Standard Time on 16 July for U.S. citizens, and will feature exclusive and invite-only deals for Prime members.

Apart from the U.S., Amazon is holding Prime Day sales in over 20 countries on the same date: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Egypt, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and the UK. The company said it will hold Prime Day in India later in the year.

The company is bringing back invite-only deals this year. Prime subscribers can request invitations from a product page by clicking a new button next to “Add to cart.” Members who are selected for a sale on the item will get an email with instructions for purchasing the item.

Amazon is already offering some early deals for Prime members. Users who haven’t tried Amazon Music Unlimited, which got a price hike last year, can get five months of subscription for free. The company is also offering a three-month trial of its new grocery service, with unlimited deliveries, on orders above $35 on Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market, and other partner stores.

Last year’s Prime Day was a hit for Amazon, with shoppers in the U.S. spending $12.7 billion, 6.1% more than they did in 2022, per Adobe Analytics data. Analytics firm Numerator said that the average order size also went up from $52.26 to $54.05.
