Cameron Diaz Breaks Another Fashion Rule After Wearing Jeans on the Back in Action Red Carpet

Cameron Diaz may be Back in Action after a decade-long acting hiatus, but her incredible sense of style never went anywhere.

While promoting her new Netflix project, Diaz threw a wrench into red carpet style conventions by showing up to the film’s Berlin premiere in high-waisted baggy black jeans. She didn’t even dress up the wide-leg denim with a slender heel! Instead, the 52-year-old actor elevated her look with a sheer black top and a dramatically long wool coat. Diaz further emphasized this free spirit vibe with an effortlessly tousled updo, which she balanced with the classic elegance of a red lip and gold Alexis Bittar earrings.

Of course, Cameron Diaz wasn’t done breaking the rules. On January 17, she proved that we should all be wearing white well after Labor Day. In fact, any hold-outs of this antiquated fashion taboo should consider wearing only white throughout winter, just as Diaz demonstrated at a Back in Action photocall in London.

Diaz gave the oversized suit trend an all-white spin on Friday, once again shirking heels in favor of square-toed black loafers—which are quickly becoming one of the most popular shoes of 2025. Honestly, I can’t remember the last time an actor looked so happy at one of these events, which can probably be attributed to her comfortable shoes.

Back in Action marks Cameron Diaz’s first acting role in 11 years, having previously retired from acting to focus on her growing family. “For me, it was just something I had to do,” Diaz said at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit in October, per Variety. “It felt like something I had to do to reclaim my own life. And I just really didn’t care about anything else.”

Clearly, she didn’t get the memo that everyone is method dressing for red carpets now…. I kid, but if her time off from press tours inspired her to throw away the red carpet rulebook, we’re all the better for it.
