George Clooney Found His Perfect Do-It-All Watch

For George Clooney, an obvious perk of being an Omega ambassador is it means if he wanted to, he could probably swap out a Seamaster Aqua Terra for a Speedmaster Moonwatch or a Globemaster on the daily and wear a different timepiece every day.

But given Clooney’s been in the cultural zeitgeist for, like, ever, it’s fair to assume he’s quite picky. So it’s no surprise that he subscribes to the one-and-done mantra and gravitates towards an all-occasion ticker that can see you through just about anything.

Clooney proved as much just yesterday, where the actor went from playing softball in Central Park to a Sardi’s portrait unveiling (and dropped some freshly dyed locks in the process) with an Omega De Ville Hour Vision strapped to his wrist.

Hitting home runs and going to fancy art museums are obviously very different settings. But unlike his fits, which went from a ball cap, tee, and shorts to a navy suit and polo, there was no change on the wrist.

That’s because the De Ville Hour Vision is primed for versatility. It’s a 41-mm time and date function chronometer that first dropped in 2007. Vibe-wise, it’s pretty unique and effortlessly blends a sporty and classic look. The dial looks ready for nine innings while the leather strap helps it blend right in while sipping expensive Negronis. But, knowing Clooney, that’s not the only reason he might routinely reach for this model. “For me, the most unique part is the finish of the case,” says Niels of @watchmypiece. “The lugs are different than other modern Omegas. It looks a bit like the dog-leg lugs of the vintage Omega Constellation.”

Sleek, refined, and packed with the prestige you might expect from a brand like Omega, of course the suavest gent in Hollywood is a fan. “It tells me that George has a distinct taste in watches, which is certainly not mainstream. It is a beautiful watch which can be worn neatly,” adds Niels.
