Taylor Swift is doubling down on the Penny Lane coat trend in New Orleans, proving the looks not as seasonal as you might think.
Though it’s still winter, temperatures in NOLA wavered between 65—84 degrees Fahrenheit on February 8, reportedly lingering in the 70 degree range for much of the evening, though you might not be able to tell by looking at Taylor Swift. The night before the Super Bowl, the 35-year-old pop star was photographed heading into Gianna Restaurant for dinner with Kylie Kelce, the Haim sisters, as well as her parents, Scott and Andrea Swift.
In photos and videos circulating online, Swift can be seen wearing yet another Charlotte Simone coat, this time in black with a cream colored faux fur collar and cuffs. She previously wore a longer version of this coat in Chiefs red to cheer on Travis Kelce in early December, pairing the ’70s-inspired jacket with tights, knee-high boots, and a fuzzy Chanel bucket hat.
This time around, she tailored the rest of the look to the New Orleans weather, going bare-legged in a pair of black shorts, which she paired with a tank top and black ankle booties. And before you suggest she chose the jacket because of cooler temps inside the restaurant, photos and video shared on TikTok shows the singer removed her outerwear while chatting with friends and family inside the venue.
While some fans on social media were confused by her choice of outerwear given the high temperatures, her entire ensemble only proves that the faux fur coat trend will prevail well into spring 2025 and possibly through summer, depending on where you live. Listen, for years women have suffered the cold in the name of fashion, shivering while waiting in line for clubs and bars in their best LBDs. Who’s to say we can’t do the same in the opposite direction? I’d honestly prefer to sweat in the name of a great statement coat.
